Scaling food without surprises
Scaling a recipe is mostly multiplication, but not everything scales in a straight line. Baking times depend on the depth of the batter more than its volume, and seasoning, leavening and liquids for reduction sometimes need adjusting by taste. The Recipe Scaling Calculator handles the arithmetic and unit changes, and the Cake Pan Converter compares pan areas so the batter depth stays similar.
Bakers often work in baker's percentages, where each ingredient is a percentage of the flour weight. The Pizza Dough Calculator uses this method, so hydration (water as a share of flour) stays the same at any batch size. For coffee, many brewers start around 1 part coffee to 15 to 17 parts water by weight and adjust from there.
Kitchen conversions and food safety
Microwave power affects cooking time roughly in inverse proportion: food that needs 3 minutes at 1,100 watts needs longer at 700 watts. The Microwave Wattage Converter adjusts times, but always check that food is heated through, since microwaves heat unevenly.
The Cooking Time Calculator estimates roasting times from weight, but doneness is set by internal temperature, not the clock. A food thermometer is the reliable check, using the minimum safe temperatures published by food safety agencies. The Caffeine Calculator tracks intake against the 400 mg per day level that the FDA says is not generally associated with negative effects for healthy adults.
Tools for text, timing and focus
The text tools each solve one cleanup job. Remove Line Breaks fixes text pasted from PDFs, Alphabetize List sorts lines, Text Diff Checker highlights changes between two drafts, and the Readability Calculator scores how hard a passage is to read using standard formulas such as Flesch-Kincaid.
For timing, the Online Timer counts down, the Stopwatch records laps and splits, and the Pomodoro Timer alternates focused work blocks with short breaks, traditionally 25 minutes of work followed by 5 minutes of rest.
